Our Priorities
Basic Human Needs
The fastest growing population of people experiencing homelessness and visiting food pantries are working families. Low wages, high cost of living, and the lack of educational opportunities all contribute to the epidemic of homelessness & hunger in our community. With your investment, United Way supports a variety of emergency and intervention programs that respond to the basic needs of your friends, neighbors and co-workers. Such basic needs include housing, food, shelter, clothing, health, etc.
Children & Families
After paying rent, childcare can often be the highest expense in the family budget. With more families relying on two parents working, United Way has made it a priority to support affordable childcare that prepares children for school and afterschool programs that keep teens out of trouble. With your investment, United Way supports a variety of youth programs throughout our service area that keep children and families healthy and active. UWGAT partners with agencies to support the healthy growth, development and unity of children and their families.
Healthy Communities
Alzheimer’s, cancer, mental illness, physical disability, and addiction are examples of issues that can affect people of all ages, races, and income levels. That is why United Way supports a variety of programs that provide affordable healthcare and counseling; support people with mental or physical disabilities; help victims of domestic & family violence, and promote preventative medical care, and provide youth and case management services.
