Dear City of Taunton Employee,

United Way of Greater Attleboro/Taunton needs your help to meet the critical needs in our community. This year we need to bring community support and involvement to a new level. United Way has pledged to Live United to create change, stand together and help those in need. United Way is asking our community to help give, advocate and volunteer, and they need our support.

One in three people in our community will use a United Way program during the next year and many will never even know they are doing so. This summer the Massachusetts Department of Public Health made the decision to conduct aerial spraying to kill mosquitoes with EEE and West Nile virus in our area. We were fortunate UWGAT was able to help the City of Taunton inform residents the specifics of the spraying through the Massachusetts 211 Information Referral Program. Mass 211 gives all citizens of the Commonwealth the ability to access non-emergency information regarding human service needs, including rent, utilities and food dialing. Mass 211 is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

In Taunton, the local area UWGAT is actively working to create a better tomorrow by funding countless community service programs today. United Way not only provides relief funding and emergency grants, but strives to find and solve the causes of these issues. A healthy and strong community benefits all of its members.

I encourage you consider investing in this year’s United Way campaign.

Together we can make a difference in our community.

Thank you for your consideration and support.

Sincerely,
Thomas C. Hoye, Jr.
Mayor
